About Geert

Geert Vanden Broeck (°1971) studied flute with Eric Dequeker and Myriam Graulus, organ, composition, conducting and chamber music at the Lemmensinstituut (Leuven) and the Royal Conservatory of Ghent.

He performes as soloist with orchestras and piano, as a member of TrioX (with soprano Lisa De Rijcke and pianist Heidi Kestemont) and formerly flute quartet La Primavera, music theatre Companija Panto Cretia amongst others.

Geert was founder and conductor of chamber orchestra con anima. He is artistic director of Flute Choir Aulophilia and teacher at the Academy for Performing Arts of Aalst.

His compositions include works for flute solo and in various instrumentations, organ, choir, orchestra and wind orchestra. Amongst his most preformed pieces are Sonatine for flute & piano and Serenade for string orchestra.

Geert plays on a vintage Handmade Custom Verne Q. Powell flute, built in 1962, combined with a headjoint from Henny de Klerk.

Besides music, Geert is an avid photographer, mountaineer and father of three daughters.
